Just as times have changed, so have burial options, ways to honor loved ones and the importance of a peaceful place to remember and reflect. Pittsburgh is a diverse city, one with a variety of languages, cultures, religions and traditions. Allegheny Cemetery is likewise committed to offering a wide variety of burial and memorialization options in a peaceful, beautiful setting.

In our nearly-400 sprawling acres of land, Allegheny Cemetery is home to a diverse landscape of in-ground burial options. While some older historical sections are full after over 180 years of service, many plots are still available to fit a wide range of preferences and budgets. This page is meant to be representative, not exhaustive, of our availability—so if you have questions, or would like to inquire about a specific section, please feel welcome to contact one of our family representatives. Our team is here to help you understand your options, and will be happy to search within our records to find the spaces that will best accommodate your needs.

Section 64 – Garden of Angels

Section 64’s proximity to our Chapel of the Angels mausoleum has lent to its name, the Garden of the Angels. It is situated on a gentle hill, allowing a full view of the custom monuments dotted throughout, which help highlight its modern charm. Memorialization allows for fully upright stones in some spaces and flush in others.

Section 63 – Garden of the Four Seasons

Section 63, also known as our Garden of the Four Seasons, is a popular, active section just across the road from our Chapel of the Angels mausoleum. In its center is our Four Seasons feature, a landmark monument with a serene patio that overlooks the section, providing a convenient place to rest while you visit and reflect. Memorialization in this section is restricted to bronze monuments that are flush to the turf (flat).

Section 62 – Garden of Peace

Section 62 is best known for its large statue of Jesus and the Dove, flanked by two globe sculptures. Also called the Garden of Peace, this stretching hillside provides the lovely feel of a garden retreat. The remaining spaces are on the lower hill, behind the statue, where the road is flanked by dense patches of trees, allowing for privacy and repose. Memorialization in this section is restricted to bronze monuments that are flush to the turf (flat).

Section 61

61, the cemetery’s Lawn Plan, shares a road with the Garden of Peace. This beautiful sun-kissed hill overlooks the valley where the main road of the cemetery runs through, the open space preserving a striking view of our seasonal foliage. Memorialization in this section is restricted to granite or bronze monuments that are flush to the turf (flat).

Section 47

Section 47 is a hidden gem of a gentle hill, nestled in a historic area of the cemetery. It is tucked away from the main road, a peaceful haven from the bustling Butler Street noise. From the peak of its hill, where most available plots are located, you can take in an expansive view that highlights our National Cemetery division as well as our war monument. Memorialization restrictions allow for fully upright stones.

Section 44

Section 44 is conveniently located directly off the main path through the cemetery, close to our Penn Avenue gates. This section borders on some of our historic areas, where old-growth trees and classically styled monuments make for a tranquil and timeless atmosphere. Many larger open areas by the edge of this section are reserved for estate lots, but smaller lots of two or more spaces are also available for purchase. Memorialization rules in this section can vary, but many lots can accommodate fully upright stones, including large family monuments and benches. Speaking to a family representative about your memorialization preferences will ensure you find a space where your vision can be realized.
