At Allegheny Cemetery, Veterans are entitled to a bronze or granite headstone through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. As an honorably discharged veteran from the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, or Coast Guard, you may be entitled to a headstone. All headstone inscriptions will include:
- The person’s legal name
- The Veteran’s service branch
- The beginning and ending years of the person’s life
Optional information that can be included:
- The full beginning and ending dates of the person’s life
- The highest rank the Veteran attained
- The Veteran’s awards and war service
- An emblem of belief
Other inscriptions may be approved, including nicknames, terms of endearment (like “Loving Father”), and special unit identification. For more information on getting a headstone through the VA, contact our office.
Filing a Claim for a Veteran’s Headstone
