Burial
Just as times have changed, so have burial options, ways to honor loved ones and the importance of a peaceful place to remember and reflect. Pittsburgh is a diverse city, one with a variety of languages, cultures, religions and traditions. Allegheny Cemetery is likewise committed to offering a wide variety of burial and memorialization options in a peaceful, beautiful setting.
For those interested in traditional, in-ground burial, Allegheny Cemetery has several sections available, some of which are in the “lawn-park” style where memorialization is restricted to being level with the turf. Examples of this include:
Garden of the Four Seasons
Capturing both the spirit and beauty of the changing seasons, the central obelisk contains niches for cremated remains and is surrounded by 2,500 in-ground burial spaces. Single, double and family estate lots are available in this section.
Garden of Peace
The bronze Christus figure in the center of this section is meant to be a symbol of peace and comfort to those who grieve the loss of a loved one. This one-of-a-kind statue was crafted in Italy and has made the Garden of Peace a very popular section for traditional burial as well as cremation burial. Space is becoming limited in this desirable section.
Allegheny Cemetery also has several areas throughout the property that permit upright memorials and there are also sections that are designated for veterans. Estate lots containing 2, 4, 6 or more spaces are a wise choice for those who wish to reserve a place for the whole family. Burial space may be purchased in advance of the time of need and at affordable monthly payments.
